After last year’s interruption, this year I mean to renew my Virginia history book reviews at TheVirginiaHistorian.com, and launch The Virginia Historian LLC with the help of my local Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC). – In my November B2B Bootcamp, my mentor stressed that politics should play no role in a business enterprise. I agree and I intend to act on it.
FIRST Focus on The Virginia Historian, personally.
– My family counselor for aging reports his professional organization strongly recommends that for this upcoming year, elderly families simply drop any political engagement with each other for the sake of both the cared-for (me) and the care-giver (wife).
– He strongly recommends a * no-politics * practice for me and my family. And anyway, as it happens, Virginia history is my thing.
SECOND Focus on The Virginia Historian, aspiring to an LLC.
– As a beginning stab at TVH social media, I’ve initiated ‘The Virginia Historian’ Facebook Group, which will bar politically-related feeds and contemporary political commentary, as Virginia history is my thing.
* 1. Topics for posting
– (a) Virginia history, 1500-present: Algonquin, Eng.-Brit., US; early WV, KY;
– (b) American South history & Upper South: VA, WV, KY and NC, TN, MO.
– (c) United States history east of Mississippi R.; N. Atlantic.
* 2. No modern partisanship
– For productive discussion and community here, everything since 1961 is considered “current events”,
– and so we cannot yet reach a well grounded historical perspective — “fuggetaboutit”.
* 3. Assume an avatar as the best Virginia Gentleman
No bullying, profanity, or belittling hate speech.
– We are fellow countrymen & women who hold in common:
– the ideals of the Declaration: equality, liberty, self-government;
– the Constitution of a federal democratic-republic, Art. I Congress.
